SILVER LEAGUE'S THIRD PERIOD ACTION HEATED THE CENTRE ICE
HARRINGTON, DE - February 7, 2006

-Titans over C.F. Schwartz (7-4)
-Dogfish beat Bushman (3-1)
Despite a scoreless second period and a tied game at the start of the third, the Titans ramped up the action in the final minutes grabbing the win against C.F. Schwartz. In the first period C.F. Schwartz’s Angus Patterson snatched the first goal; however, the Titans returned three consecutive goals from Eric Froman and two from Dave Wilson. The Titan’s Thomas Weekes put a puck in the net which was answered by a hat trick from Dave Wilson. Both teams battled it out during the second period; however, goalies Greg Gries (C.F. Schwartz) and Joe Alvarado (Titans) held back all attempts. Into the third period, Weekes scored again and Graham Robbins offered the equalizer. With less than five minutes remaining, the Titans rallied a strong offense as Alastair Probert scored and Eric Froman obtained two goals for his hat trick of the night giving the Titans the (7-4) win.
In the second game, the Bushman went up against Dogfish Head. The game started out evenly matched as both teams’ goalies held back all attempts in the first period. In the second, Dogfish Head’s Chase Christian scored the only goal for the period. At the beginning of the third period, Dogfish Head’s Stephen Cannon offered another goal that was quickly matched by the Bushman. With one minute remaining, Dogfish Head secured a final goal that offered them the (3-1) win.
The Centre Ice Rink at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington offers an adult (18+) hockey league; men and women are encouraged to join. The League is USA Hockey certified and Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) affiliated. Per USA Hockey standards, placement is based on interest, experience and ability. The Silver Division is designed for those players who have played organized hockey. The depth of talent is usually consistent throughout the roster and characterized by talented, heads-up play.
