HARRINGTON, DE - February 20, 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
-Jonathan Landing’s Eagles over NAPA Predators (5-3)
-Wilson Contracting’s Stars defeat Stover Homes’ Outlaws (7-5)
-Finish Line Collision and Mad Dogs tie (4-4)
On Sunday evening, The Centre Ice Rink’s Bronze League teams duked it out. In the first game, Jonathan Landing’s “JL Eagles” took on the NAPA “Predators”. It looked as if the Predators were going to dominate as Michael Gross (assist: James Trabaudo, Jr.) struck the only goal in the first period and the team scored two goals in the second: Robert Bassett, Jr. (unassisted) and Richard Wawrzeniak (assists: Grosso, Trabaudo), while shutting out all attempts from the JL Eagles. In the third period, however, the JL Eagles came alive in the third period shutting out all attempts from the Predators and scoring five consecutive goals for the (5-3) win. JL Eagles goals: Scott Brown for two (assists: James DiDonato, Jon Burgess), #71 (assists: James Rau, Paul Kaercher), David Gist (unassisted), and #4 (assists: Bill Medford, Paul Butler).
In the second game, Wilson Contracting’s “Stars” were paired against Stover Homes’ “Outlaws”. The teams offered near equal play in each period with a constant back-and-forth. In the first period, the Outlaws’ #71 (assist: #44) struck first but was answered almost immediately by the Stars’ John Michalik (assist: Robert Betts). Minutes later, the Outlaws’ Mark Hoffman was followed by #71 in a strike back. The Stars’ Betts managed a final goal before the period buzzer; however, it wasn’t enough to grab the lead. In the second period, Hoffman struck again for the Outlaws (assist: Petr Lyseil); however, the Stars’ David Lamourine (assists: Dave Wilson, Betts) answered and Richard Borrelli (unassisted) offered the equalizer. Heading into the third, with the game tied (4-4), the Stars’ Robert Betts scored twice managing a hat trick (assists: Wilson and Michalik). Despite one last attempt from the Outlaws’ Keith Younus (assist: Ray McCloskey), the Stars’ managed a (7-5) win with the last goal from Lamourine (unassisted).
The third game of the night was evenly matched between the “Mad Dogs” and “Finish Line” Collision. Finish Line dominated the first period with two goals from Ray Reddington (unassisted) and Jacob Lewis (assist: Cory Perdue). In the second period, Finish Line struck first with a goal from Perdue (assist: Troy Palmer); however, it was answered seconds later by a goal from the Mad Dogs’ Mark Sordi (assists: Robert Genova, Alan Kovitz). It wasn’t enough though as Finish Line’s Palmer grabbed another goal (unassisted). As the game headed into the third with Finish Line leading by three, no one could have guessed the might that the Mad Dogs would muster in the final period. The Mad Dogs dominated the final period with three consecutive goals and shutout all attempts from Finish Line which led to the (4-4) tie at the buzzer. Third period goals: Sordi (assist: David Kokoszka), Garrett Atz (unassisted), and Genova (assist: David Porter).
