BRONZE LEAGUE'S SECOND ROUND PLAYOFF WINNERS TO ADVANCE TO FOURTH ROUND

HARRINGTON, DE - March 20, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

-Wilson Contracting’s Stars defeat Mad Dogs (7-2)
-Stover Homes’ Outlaws over NAPA Predators (6-3)

After the round one playoffs, the “Mad Dogs” found themselves in a precarious position as they took on the first-ranked Wilson Contracting’s “Stars”. The tone was set in the first period as the Stars’ Dave Wilson (assist: Carl Kline) struck the only goal for the period and goalie Joe Alvarado held back all attempts. In the first few minutes of the second period, Dave Wilson (assist: David Lamourine) struck again and then successfully grabbed his hat trick (assist: Carl Kline) moments later. Deep into the second, David Lamourine (assist: John Michalik) made another goal; however, seconds later, the Mad Dogs’ Mark Sordi (assist: #2, Alan Kovitz) struck back. Not be outdone, the Stars’ David Lamourine grabbed another goal on a power-play. Heading into the third period, the Mad Dogs’ #9 (assist: Andrew Whitman) struck first; however, they were easily answered by the Stars’ Robert Betts (assist: David Lamourine, Richard Borrelli) and John McCartney (assists: Fred Messa, Charles Moore) for the (7-2) win. The Stars will now bypass the third round of play which will eliminate the two lowest ranked teams, and they’ll advance to the fourth round where they will play Stover Homes’ Outlaws.

In the second game of the round two playoffs, the NAPA “Predators” took on the best ranked round one playoff winners, Stover Homes’ “Outlaws”. During the first two periods it was a constant back and forth as each team played for the win. The Predators’ Michael Grosso (unassisted) struck first and was answered by the Outlaws’ #44 (assist: Mark Hoffman) on a power-play. Grosso struck again (assist: Richard Wawrzeniak) to give the Predators a one point lead. In the second, the Outlaws grabbed two goals: #44 (assist: Dan Matta) and #71 (assists: Petr Lyseil, Keith Younus). Grosso, however, grabbed his hat trick (assist: James Trabaudo, Jr.) for the night. In the third, the Outlaws’ goalie, Dave Freeman, held back all attempts as Dan Matta (unassisted) managed two goals and Keith Younus (assist: Petr Lyseil) grabbed one for the Outlaws’ (6-3) win. The Outlaws will also bypass the third round of play which will eliminate the two lowest ranked teams and advance to the fourth round where they’ll play Wilson Contracting’s Stars.
