WILSON CONTRACTING'S STARS GRAB BRONZE LEAGUE ICE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AT THE CENTRE ICE RINK

”Queen” wasn’t just being sung on American Idol this week, “We are the Champions” resonated through the Wilson Contracting’s Stars locker room at The Centre Ice Rink in Harrington.

Through the double elimination playoff structure, the Stover Homes’ “Outlaws” faced the Bronze Adult Hockey League’s first-ranked team, Wilson Contracting’s “Stars”. Despite the fact that the Outlaws had won three playoff games on their way to the championship, the Stars stronghold was just too much to overcome.

Stars’ goalie, Joe Alvarado, held back all attempts as teammates Dave Wilson (unassisted), Robert Betts (unassisted), and Fred Messa (unassisted) scored solo points at the top of each period for a final (3-0) score.

The Centre Ice Rink in Harrington will close to prepare for the annual state fair, but will reopen in September. In the fall, The Centre will offer adult (18+) hockey league play—men and women are encouraged to join. The League is USA Hockey certified and Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) affiliated. Per USA Hockey standards, placement is based on interest, experience and ability. The Bronze League is designed for those players who are interested in organized hockey.
