Press Release
CONFUCIUS SAY, 'DON'T BLINK OR LEAVE BEFORE FINAL BUZZER IN DOGFIGHT'
HARRINGTON, DE - October 11, 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday evening, the WOCM “Bulldogs” and “Dogfish Head” silver league hockey teams took to the ice at The Centre Ice Rink in what became a fight until the bitter end.
During the first two periods, each time a player took control of the puck, his team gained control of the game. The Bulldogs’ Angus Patterson was the first to place one into the net while goalie Gregory Gries held back all attempts from Dogfish Head. The Bulldogs carried the lead through to the second period when Stephen Cannon (assist: John Manson) made the goal for Dogfish. Not only did the goal tie-up the game, it gave Dogfish Head control throughout the remainder of the period. Three more consecutive goals were delivered by Dogfish Head: Miles Garret (assist: Manson), Manson (assist: Jeremy Sheppard), and Cannon again (assists: Manson, Pat Regan).
The third period was intense and brought spectators to the edge of their seats and players to the edge of their blades. At the top of the period, the Bulldogs fought back with a goal from Chris Sloan (assist: James Lattanzi); however, Dogfish Head’s Manson (assists: Regan, Sheppard) answered with another goal. Not to be outdone, the Bulldogs kept up the fight as Jamie Garrison (assist: Patterson) struck again and was followed by teammate Lattanzi (assists: Garrison, Sloan). With a score of 5-4, and less than two minutes on the clock, Dogfish Head set their sites on the win. Michael Rash (assist: Ray Reddington) knocked one into the net, and with 19 seconds left in the game, Matthew Fuller slid one in giving Dogfish Head a two point lead and the 7-4 win.
