TITANS WIN AGAIN BUT REALIZE STIFF COMPETITION REMAINS

HARRINGTON, DE - October 20, 2006

During Thursday evening’s Silver League hockey game at The Centre Ice Rink, “Dogfish Head” went up against the “Titans”, knowing the Titans had demolished the Bushmen earlier in the week. However, Dogfish Head held their own in a constant back-and-forth until the bitter end.

Titans’ Erik Froman (assist: William Hamilton Jr., Dan Lawson) moved in aggressively grabbing a goal just thirty-six seconds into the game; however, it didn’t take long for Dogfish Head to catch-up with help from Miles Garrett (assist: Joseph York). Dogfish Head scored again a minute later with a goal by Stephen Cannon (assist: Ray Reddington, York). With just over two minutes remaining in the first, York (assist: Jeremy Sheppard) was able to get another puck in the net for Dogfish Head on a power play.

The Titans, not wanting to tarnish their reputation, fought back in the second period with an amazing shot by Froman (assist: Alastair Probert) that diminished Dogfish Head’s lead. Despite some nice passing action by the Titans, Dogfish Head displayed their skills and took charge again as Cannon (assist: Garrett and #00) netted another.

It was obvious the Titans were saving their energy for the third period as Hamilton (assist: Lawson) grabbed a goal just seconds into the start of the final period. Lawson (assist: Hamilton, Lion Gardner) made the equalizer when he sunk one deep into the net. Nearly six minutes later, Dogfish Head’s York (assist: Cannon) put his team in the lead on a power play. Not ready to accept defeat, the Titans sank another goal by Lawson (assist: Justin Skinner) and tied-up the game 5-5. Looking for a winning tactic, Dogfish Head exchanged their goalie for another player, but they couldn’t get past Titan’s goalie. With their net wide open, and with less than one minute remaining, Dogfish Head allowed Titans’ Froman (assist: Hamilton, Lawson) the winning goal for a final score of 6-5.

The Centre Ice Rink at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington offers an adult (18+) hockey league; men and women are encouraged to join. The League is USA Hockey certified and Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) affiliated. Per USA Hockey standards, placement is based on interest, experience and ability.
