SILVER LEAGUE'S UNLUCKY 'GAME 13' OFFERS NEITHER TEAM THE WIN
HARRINGTON, DE - November 15, 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday night, at The Centre Ice Rink in Harrington, the Silver League played its thirteenth game of the season--unlucky number thirteen--leaving the competing teams, “Titans” and “WOCM” 98.1, wondering who would be the luckier of the two.
The entire first period consisted of non-stop, high-speed passing action with several unsuccessful attempts resulting in a scoreless first period. The unlucky streak was broken when Chris Sloan (assist: Thomas Weekes) of WOCM scored several seconds into the start of the second period. A mere 20 seconds later, the Titans’ Dan Lawson offered an unassisted equalizer. Both teams continued to play neck-and-neck throughout the second period. With less than two minutes remaining in the period, WOCM broke the 1-1 tie when Scott Granger (assists: Jason Lindsay, Sloan) barely slid the puck into the net. In the beginning of the third, the Titans were able to catch up with a goal from Erik Froman (assist: Lyon Gardner) on a power play since two WOCM players ended up in the penalty box. Halfway through the period, WOCM’s Angus Patterson scored, unassisted, followed by an equalizer from Titans’ William Hamilton (assist: Froman). As the clock counted down the final minutes, neither team was lucky enough to get another puck past the opposing goalie; therefore, the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
