WOCM 98.1 vs. The Bushmen
After a short holiday rest many welcomed the sight of the ice with a smile. WOCM warmed up early and were ready to play as the Bushmen were slow starting. Angus Patterson eagerly scored unassisted in what began as a save and then bounced perfectly off William Gallion’s elbow into the net. Half way through the first period Jason Lindsay (assist: Patterson) made a nice goal to up the WOCM lead 2-0. Moments later the Bushmen lost two players to the box, but were able to keep WOCM at bay thanks to their goal. The period ended with a shutout score of 2-0 and Gallion with 11 saves and Greg Gries with 10. Thomas Weekes (assist: Sean Staffieri) kept the puck moving into the 2nd period as he scored the 3rd goal for WOCM. In hopes of scoring, the Bushmen pulled their goalie for an extra player, but quickly put him back. The Bushmen finally ended the shutout with a goal by Kyle Cresswell (assists: Kenneth Meyer and Patrick Foley) with almost four minutes left in the period, but WOCM struck back with 27 seconds left and a goal by Staffieri (assist: Weekes) for a score of 4-1. It all came down to the 3rd and last period as the game could easily have gone either way. The skaters picked up speed, quickened passes, and the goalies were put to the test. WOCM played to their strength as Weekes (assist: Patterson) scored again. The Bushmen got lucky on a power play thought and Mitchell Arion (assist: Meyer) slid one in old school. WOCM got nervous as the Bushmen turned up the heat and scored one final goal Jason Lindsay (assist: Collard) bumped the closing score to 6-2.
