BRONZE LEAGUE ICE HOCKEY BACK AFTER THE HOLIDAY BREAK

HARRINGTON, DE - January 8, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The first game of Sunday night - Mad Dogs vs Jonathans Landings (J.L) Eagles

The Bronze League teams were welcomed back tonight from their nice long holiday break in the spirit of hockey. In the first game Mad Dogs were matched against the J.L. Eagles. The first period was slow to start and it wasn’t until half way through the period, where J.L Eagles were able to steal a goal on a power play thanks to Alain Fontin (assist: Brian Page). Then, the Mad Dogs bit back with a very nice goal made by Don Kimball (assist: David Sawicki) from the blue line. In the second period, the Eagles pushed hard to break the tie however it was Sawicki (assists: Kimball and Alan Kovitz) who was the next to score. The game began picking up momentum as both teams struck with vengeance. Mad Dogs’ goalie for the night, Sean Cannon, defended the net well. The back and forth continued as the Eagles tied the score 2-2 with a goal by David Gist (assist: Fontin), quickly followed by the Mad Dogs’ Sawicki scoring unassisted to steal the lead again. The Eagles retailed with two goals by James Didonato (assists: Page and David Schreffler). In the third period, the Eagles were up by one. After a long final period, the Eagles’ Schreffler (assists: Eric Isherwood and William Medford) scored once more to take the win 5-3. A special congratulation goes out to James Didonato his teams win tonight on his 50th Birthday! Happy Birthday James!

The second game of Sunday night – NAPA Predators vs. Seafood City Sharks

The second game of the night followed suit with the first as it too began slowly. Seafood City Sharks’ Andrew Whitman (assist: David Spielman) was the first to light up the score board followed by Sharks’ Sean King (assist: Spielman). A Shark team mate, lost in the moment, was unable to stop until well into the net giving spectators an enjoyable show. The period ended with the Sharks shutting out NAPA. In the second period NAPA showed off nicely some impressive moves. They then scored with a goal by Richard Wawrzeniak (assists: Matthew Warrington and Lance Green). Quite a few pile ups occurred at the nets as players were eager to score and defend. The Sharks’ goalie was pushed to the limit, making every save he could, in any position that would get the job done. Second period Speilman makes a nice attempt to score sliding the puck in between the goalie and the net, close, but just not enough. The 3rd and most intense period of the game, started with the Sharks leading 2-1. The weight of a win wore on the players as there was still a complete period left in the game. NAPA goalie made a smooth save. Then a goal was made during a power play by James Trabaudo (assists: Robert and Brian Bassett) to tie the score 2-2. Sharks fought back with a goal by Bob Genova (assist: Bradley Orvis and Brian Petras). NAPA sped up as the Sharks scored twice more, once with the goalies feet in the air, Phillip Kriner (assists: Spielman and Andy Tiscko) and then Andrew Whitman (assists: Orvis and Genova). Seconds later NAPA player Robert Bassett, unassisted, scored followed by Sharks for two more final goals, the first by Sean King unassisted and Dave Spielman (assist: Petras). The game ended with a final score of 7-3 to the Sharks.

The third game on Sunday night
Finish Line Collision vs. Wilson Stars

Wilson Stars “Squeak” a Win!
Finish Line goalie tonight was also Sean Cannon. The Stars started their win in the first period by shutting out Finish Line 1-0, goal by Steve Judge (assists: Dave Wilson and Richard Borrelli). In the second period the Stars kept the puck close to the net with a few pile ups in the mix. Both teams kept a strong defense, not letting anything slide by. The second period went without any goals and Cannon broke his stick with the numerous attempts made by Finish Line. The 3rd period began with Finish Line coming close to scoring right off the face off, but was unsuccessful. The Stars got the puck rolling again a few minutes into the 3rd period with a goal by Robert Betts (assists: Wilson and Michael Arabia) for a 2-0 lead, then Robert Betts (assists: Borrelli and Wilson) on a power play, followed by Mike Arabia (assist: Betts) for a grand total score of 4-0. Refusing to give in, Finish Line’s Chris Klein (assist: Charles Frasson and Cory Perdue) finally put them on the board. The Stars struck again, this time with a goal by Dave Wilson (assist: Arabia). Charlie Frasso (assist: Troy Palmer and Ron Oronzio) scooted the puck in to give Finish line their second point and the final goal of the game. Wilson Stars won after much a due for a final score of 5-2.
