Press Release

SUNDAY NIGHT PROVE TO BE A TOUGH NIGHT FOR THE BROZE LEAGUE

HARRINGTON, DE - January 16, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sunday Night Game 1
Finish Line Freezes out Wilson Stars

Players on both teams started off slow tonight as they warmed up. Finish Line’s goalie Brian Burns made a nice save at the beginning of the period. The Stars set up differently for a face off and it worked well for them. Finish Line made a couple of nice attempts, coming close, but close doesn’t cut it in hockey. The goalies went save for save as no goals were made. The second period started off with a pass that came to close for comfort for one of the refs. The first goal of the game was made Jacob Lewis (assists: Ron Corder and Troy Palmer). Wilson Stars pile up on the Finish Line goal starved for a goal. The game picked up intensely and cheers from the crowd turned almost into an uproar in the final period. Wilson Star’s Michael Arabia makes a steal but its Chris Mukoda (assist: Corder) who makes the goal, putting Finish Lines up by two. The Stars decide to call a time out to strategize and come back playing monkey in the middle against the wall to keep the puck just out of Finish Line’s reach. The Stars put pressure on Finish Line again as they kept the puck right in front of the net. Finish Line’s goalie was on his mark tonight, obviously having eaten his Wheatys for breakfast. The Stars worked hard and diligently, with Finish Line down a man. The Stars searched for a spot to score and pulled the goalie. Finish Line made a break away and the Stars held their breath until Richard Borrelli came to the rescue, stealing the puck for one final attempt. The game ended with Finish Line shutting out the Wilson Stars and a final score of 2-0.

Sunday Night Game 2
NAPA Predators clip Buffalo Wilds Wings Outlaws

The second game of the night placed NAPA against the Outlaws. The outlaws laid on the attempts, but the NAPA goalie Greg Gries stood firmly. Outlaws’ Keith Younus made a smooth break away with the puck aimed for the net, but was denied. The scoreboard was well lit with plenty of penalties for both teams. As NAPA was down two men, Outlaws’ Keith Younus (assist: Andrew Dahlke) scored the first goal of the game on a power play. In the second period, after many attempts, NAPA Michael Grosso (assist: Robert Bassett) scored to tie 1-1. NAPA at one point was down 3 men, recovered, then scored thanks to Michael Warrington (assist: Keith Grimes) to bump their lead to 2-1. One minute into the last period, James Trabaudo, unassisted, scored for NAPA to continue their rein to 3-1. The Outlaws called a time out half way through to devise a plan. It was of now use and the game ended 3-1 in favor of NAPA.

Sunday Night Game 3
Seafood City Sharks nips Jonathan’s Landings Eagles

The players in the last game of the night were eager to begin. The Sharks were so excited they collided a few times with each other. The game quickly got fierce though and a lone shark was thrown into the net. The period finished with a continuous battle back and forth. The second period began without the Sharks’ goalie Seamus Moody, however they quickly put him back in his place just in time for the Eagles’ Jamie Rau (assist: Paul Butler) to score short handed. The back and forth battle sustained as the puck went from team to team. Near the end of the period, with 5 on 5, Sharks Bob Genova (assist: Phillip Kriner) scored to tie 1-1. In the third period, about half way through, Sharks Genova (assist: Corey Bourque) scored, followed by Sharks Brian Petras (assist: Sean King). The Eagles retaliated with a goal by Eric Isherwood (assist: Chris Good) for a score of 3-2. The Sharks were relentless as Andy Tasckos (assist: #6) and unassisted scored twice. The Sharks kept the attention until the very end and with one second left Mike Nurtheru (assist: Kriner) scored the final goal of the game for a grand total score of 6-2.
