FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Game 1 Sunday Night
Finish Line Collision vs. Buffalo Wild Wings Outlaws
Finish Line Fiercely Battled to a Win
Outlaws Rich Ortega aka Salsa (assist: Adam Schmidt) made the first goal of the evening. Outlaws Ray McCloskey made a break away from a face off, attempted but was denied by Finish Line’s Ron Oronzio. The Outlaws picked up speed with Finish Line down a man; it was no good though as Finish Line goalie made every save. At the other end, Outlaws goalie took a stick to the face defending the net. Finish Line laid on the shots, but Outlaws were the ones to actually score with a goal by Peter Lysek (assists: Andrew Dahlke and Mark Hoffman) to continue the shut out 2-0. Finish Line made a come back full force scoring twice in a row. First goal by Troy Palmer (assists: Jacob Lewis and Chris Mukoda) then, Aaron Trudel (assist: Ray Reddington) to tie, followed shortly there after by Mukoda (assist: Palmer) to take the lead on a short hand play. The excitement rose intensely not only in the players, but in the fans as well as this great game continued into its final period. The 3-2 score continued as the Outlaws attacked, piling up on the Finish Line goalie. At last, McCloskey (assist: Adam Schmidt) scores to tie the score again 3-3. Minutes pass and in an amazingly lucky goal, Finish Line reclaimed the lead thanks to Charlie Frasso (assist: James Olson). Refusing to just lay down, Outlaw’s Daniel Matta puts one in for the team short handed, to tie once again 4-4. With half a period left, the intensity rose as with it the Finish Line’s score. Mike Petit de Mange (assist: Garth Baldridge) scored the winning goal with 5 minutes left in the period. The Outlaws pulled their goal with a couple of minutes left, but their efforts were futile as Finish Line won 5-4.
Game 2 Sunday Night
Jonathon Landings Eagles vs. NAPA predators
Beginning slow and feeling out the ice, the Eagles mostly kept the puck at the NAPA end of the ice. The started their win with a goal by James Didonato (assist: Michael Bassaro). It got a little rough behind the net until NAPA’s James Trabaudo (assists: Robert and Brian Bassett) scored while goalie Joe Worts was down from a previous save. The second period began with a score of 1-1 but soon changed as Eagles’ Brian Page (assist: Brassaro) stole the lead. A pile up at the Eagles net knocked almost everyone down. NAPA upped their speed a notch and with a little over 2 minutes left in the period Michael Grosso (assist: Richard Wawrzeniak) scored. More Eagles players went down after another pile up in the net, but all were ok and the period ended 2-2. The Eagles took control near the beginning of the 3rd with a goal by Michael Laws (assist: Didonato). Eagles’ goalie then made a tricky skate save followed by another goal for the Eagles by Michael Laws (assist: Didonato). Players everywhere began to fall of their own accord or from the collisions as they played in haste as the clock counted down. NAPA too pulled their goalie the final few seconds, but it too did little good. The Eagles won with a final score of 4-2.
Game 3 Sunday Night
Wilson Stars vs. Mad Dogs
Stars Steal the Show
It was a shut out game from the first period to the last as the Stars were unstoppable. In the first period Richard Borrelli (assist: Carl Klein) got the puck moving less than a minute in. John McCartney (assist: Fred Messa and Charles Moore), Charlie Frasso (assist: Messa) and Robert Betts (assist: Klein) all followed suit a score consecutively. One of the refs took a hard hit to the stomach and shook it off in time to catch Stars’ McCartney (assist: Messa) score 5-0. Mad Dog’s Don Kimball took the puck the length of the ice only to be denied. To end the period, Star’s Borrelli scored their 6th goal, unassisted. The second period went by fast and not too full of action. Star Fred Messa (assist: Moore) scored and the refs decided on a running clock. The 3rd period began with a running clock and the players came out with new enthusiasm. The period once again began with a goal, this time by Robert Betts (assist: Klein and David Wilson) for a score of 9-0. Star Wilson scored twice once with assistance from Messa and McCartney and one unassisted to end the shut out game 11-0
