Sunday night’s games

Game 1
Buffalo Wild Wings vs. Mad Dogs

Wild Wings Win with a Shut Out

Outlaws entered the ice strong and were first to score with goal by Keith Younus unassisted. Then, Ray McCloskey (assist: Adam Schmidt) held firm against the defenders and scored. Mad Dogs lost a player to the box and Schmidt (assist: McCloskey) took the opportunity to score. The Mad Dog goalie was forced to stay on her skates as the Outlaws made numerous attempts. In the second period, Outlaw’s captain Hoffman took possession as soon as the puck was dropped on the first face off. He eventually lost it to the Mad Dogs as Don Kimball made a nice steal. An abundance of passing by both teams filled the period. McCloskey (assist: Schmidt), the unbeatable pair tonight, slide another one in to end the period 4-0. The Outlaws only needed two more points for a running clock and two more they got starting with McCloskey unassisted followed by Keith Younus (assist: Doug Burus). The running clock began and the Mad Dogs called a time out. Outlaw Andrew Dahlke (assists: Schmidt and McCloskey) scored once more and the game ended in favor of the Outlaws 7-0

Game 2
NAPA Predators vs. JL Eagles

Eagles Win in Over Time

It was a steady back and forth game that led into over time. The Eagles threw in some hard hits that the NAPA goalie held off well. Both teams exhibited strong defenses as the battle began. With exactly one minute left Chris Good slide one in unassisted for the Eagles. In the second period the referee took a puck to the knee and a NAPA player went down. There was a battle behind the net and James Trabaudo (assist: Tom Gates) of the NAPA team score to tie 1-1. Both teams kept up their speed and showed some good passes. At the end of the period Predator Matt Warrington (assist: Keith Grimes) scored for a score of 2-1. In the third period the Eagles tied on a power play thanks to Alain Fontin unassisted. A pile up on the Eagles net caused some commotion. The Eagles pulled ahead with a goal by Michael Laws (assists: Fontin and Paul Butler). Intensity rose as fans cheered, really getting into the game. NAPA pulled their goalie the last minute in an effort to tie the score. Their theory worked as James Trabaudo (assist: Danny Ranger) scored to tie 3-3. The game went into over time with 5 minutes on the board. The Eagles were the ones to score first and take the win with a goal by Fontin (assist: Butler) on a power play.

Game 3
Dogfish Head vs. The Bushmen

The most anticipated game of the night began with excitement. Both teams were seriously in the game and ready to win. Into the game a few minutes an over zealous Bushmen player skated right in to the Dogfish net, getting all tangled. The puck went back and forth between players until Bushmen Greg Moffitt (assist: Kenneth Meyer) scored the first and only goal for the period. In the second period Dogfish were eager to catch up and did so with a smooth goal by Ryan Lewis (assist: Jeremy Sheppard). The battle over the win continued into a stale mate and the period ended 1-1. In the third period The Bushmen came up with some decent steals while their goalie sustained making great saves. Dogfish called a time out about half way through to strategize. Their plan was successful as Lewis (assist: Ray Reddington) slide one right in. The game ended 3-1 and the Dogfish players all smiles.
