C.F. SCHWARTZ SEIZED A (7-6) WIN IN THE FINAL MINUTES

On Tuesday night, two of The Centre Ice Rink’s Silver League teams, "C.F. Schwartz" and "Dogfish Head" battled it out until the very end.

In the first period, Dogfish Head’s Pat Regan (assists: Stephen Cannon, Chase Christian) scored first, but for every goal made in the first period, one of which was on a Power Play by Darren Curtis (assist: Pat Regan, Matt Fuller), C.F. Schwartz would score two: #13 (unassisted); #14 (assists: Jamie Garrison, #13); #14 (unassisted); and #14 (assist: #13).

In the second period, Dogfish Head’s goalie, Joe Alvarado, shutout all attempts from the opponent, and the team worked to regain control by scoring two: Chase Christian (assist: Jeremey Sheppard) and equalizer Matt Fuller (assists: Stephen Cannon, Jeremy Sheppard).

“Control” was the name of the game in the third as C.F. Schwartz scored twice in the beginning of the final period: #6 (assist: #14) and #4 (unassisted). Dogfish Head, however, managed to tie-up the game with only four minutes remaining: Chase Christian (assist: Darren Curtis) and Stephen Cannon (assists: Doug Backus, Chase Christian). However, C.F. Schwartz fought back for one final goal from #14 (assist: #4, #16) giving them a (7-6) win.

The Centre Ice Rink at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington offers an adult (18+) hockey league; men and women are encouraged to join. The League is USA Hockey certified and Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) affiliated. Per USA Hockey standards, placement is based on interest, experience and ability. The Silver Division is designed for those players who have played organized hockey. The depth of talent is usually consistent throughout the roster and characterized by talented, heads-up play.
