Finish Line Collision defeated Mad Dogs (7-0)
Wilson Contracting’s Stars beat Stover Homes’ Outlaws (7-0)
NAPA Predators over Jonathan Landing’s JL Eagles (1-0)
The first Bronze League game of the night pitted the “Mad Dogs” against “Finish Line” Collision. The ice, however, seemed to be tilted in favor of Finish Line as they opened the game with four goals during the first period: Ray Reddington (unassisted); #2 (unassisted); a shorthanded goal by #18; and #1 (assist: Corey Bourque, Michael Petit de Mange). Finish Line headed into the second with a 4-0 lead and quickly added two more: #2 (unassisted) and Jacob Lewis (unassisted). Halfway through the third period, Finish Line extended their lead (7-0) with a score from Chris Klein (assist: Cory Perdue). Throughout the game, Finish Line’s goalie would hang tough preserving the shutout, giving the team a solid 7-0 victory over the Mad Dogs. Neither team scored on the power play.
The high-scoring shutouts did not end with the first game as Wilson Contracting’s “Stars” repeated Finish Line’s performance defeating Stover Homes’ “Outlaws” by a score of 7-0. Robert Betts lead the Stars’ scoring for the night with a hat trick. Providing additional goals were: two by Dave Wilson (one assist by John McCartney); Richard Borrelli (assist Robert Betts); and Fred Messa (assist: Dave Lamourine). The Stars’ goalie, Joe Alvarado, helped the team improve to a perfect 5-0 season—the only undefeated team in the Bronze League.
In the final game of the night, Jonathan Landing’s “JL Eagles” went up against NAPA’s “Predators”. Not to be outdone by Finish Line’s and the Stars’ goalies, NAPA Predators’ Gregory Gries put together an excellent effort to record a shutout of his own. The Predators needed the shutout as they were only able to slip one past JL Eagles’ goaltender on a goal from Matthew Warrington (unassisted) allowing the Predators a final 1-0 win over JL Eagles.
