-Titans’ third period showing offers (4-3) victory over Dogfish Head

The Centre's Silver League witnessed hat tricks with no treats during both games this week. During the first Silver League game, it appeared, heading into the third, as though Dogfish Head would grab the win given Darren Curtis’ first period score (assists: Jeremy Sheppard, Doug Backus) and second period goal delivered by Jeremy Sheppard (assist: Pat Regan). However, the Titans came alive in the third period scoring four consecutive goals—a hat trick by Eric Froman and a goal from James Becker. In the last two minutes, Dogfish Head’s Jon Manson (assists: Darren Curtis, Stephen Cannon) scored one final goal; however, it was one shy of what was needed to tie-up the game, and the Titans walked away with a 4-3 win.

In the second Silver League game of the week, once again, C.F. Schwartz was pitted against the Bushmen. Despite the team’s multiple scoring and hat tricks by Angus Patterson (who also provided multiple assists), it was C.F. Schwartz’s loss of control at the end of the third period that would cost them the win. In the middle of the final period, the game was tied (8-8), however, the Bushmen’s Louis Patriquin offered two goals and John Dowgos scored once, securing hat tricks for both and the game.

The Centre Ice Rink at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington offers an adult (18+) hockey league; men and women are encouraged to join. The League is USA Hockey certified and Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) affiliated. Per USA Hockey standards, placement is based on interest, experience and ability. The Silver Division is designed for those players who have played organized hockey. The depth of talent is usually consistent throughout the roster and characterized by talented, heads-up play.
